One of the “heroes” of our investigations, chief of Board of Internal Affairs of the city of Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo region Sergey Salnikov resigned from his post. According to Alexander Yelin, chief of Main Board of Internal Affairs of Kemerovo region, he was excluded from the staff and will stay in reserve of Main Board of Internal Affairs. ndrey Karaknitsa, who was previously the head of Department of Internal Affairs of the city of Belov, will be the head of the city militia in his stead.
Salnikov has worked in his post only for two years. And though the head of Main Board of Internal Affairs of Kemerovo region thanked him for his work, his resignation means that under present conditions it became impossible to keep the man whose name is associated with corruption scandals as the head of the city militia.

Since last autumn MOO “Spravedlivost” tried to prove Sergey Salnikov’s connection to corruption in Board of Internal Affairs of the city of Novokuznetsk for General Prosecutor’s Office. The facts we collected confirm the connection of the head of Novokuznetsk Board of Internal Affairs to various kinds of machination linked to embezzlement of budgetary funds, systematic theft of fuels and lubricants. Besides, the attempts of the officials at Novokuznetsk Board of Internal Affairs to raise a question at the local level had no results. And now, at last, the result was reached. It was a victory, though minor, which became possible due to participation of human rights activists.
